In this design, I propose a new business model for a retail industry in the digital age. “Pinporium” is a dynamic retail platform, which is transformed from Pinterest, an online image social community. It is a sub-brand emporium–type retail space satellite brand for Pinterest. In this new concept, the action of pinning becomes more powerful—impacting the offline world. Pinporium present a brand new business model that is adaptive to the future, and a revolution in the retail industry. It is an offline project designed under the macro context of the digital age. Supported by advanced technology, virtual community, and a focus on interactivity and flexibility, this dynamic space is proposes to bring new life to physical stores. In the future, the online and offline entities will work together to engage and inspire customers with a lasting and meaningful experience. Pinporium shopping experience based on Pinterest user’s database, it will feature more interactivity between shoppers and sellers, tailored to consumers’ personal shopping preferences, by converging of both online and offline platforms. It capitalizes on the advantages of both media, and creates a multi-dimensional shopping experience centered around interactivity, flexibility and an active customer community.
